Ajax Amsterdam has sacked Alfred Schreuder from his role as head coach of the Dutch giant following a 1-1 draw with Voldendam.

Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus scored his 11 goal in 24 games in all competitions after coming off the bench to lash home the equalizer in the 80th minute.

Schreuder replaced Erick Ten Hag after the latter moved to become head coach of Manchester United ahead of the 2022-2023 season.

However, his time as Ajax boss turned sour after picking up just two wins since November 1 prompting protest from fans and tense exchanges with the media during post game interviews.

Schreuder played an instrumental role in Kudus’ uptick in goals production by playing the versatile midfielder as a “False 9” in the middle of a three man forward line.

Kudus’s fine form in front of goal carried over to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar where he scored two goals and registered an assist in three games.

The draw means the defending Eredivisie champions Ajax rank fifth in the league standings with 34 points and seven points behind league leader Feyenoord.
