Ghana winger Joseph Paintsil is backing himself to convert penalties at a high level on the back of converting his latest effort.
Paintsil scored in Los Angeles Galaxy’s 4-3 win over San Jose Earthquake in the 100th California Derby from the penalty spot.
His strike is his fourth of the season and the former KRC Genk player has four assists to his tally in nine league games in his debut season for LA Galaxy.
Speaking on his penalty effort in his post game conference, Paintsil also outlined how amazing it was to score in the same game as other members of the PPP- Riqui Puig and Gabriel Pec. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“I’m always comfortable (taking penalties) because this is not something new for me. I’m always confident especially in a penalty shootout. I’m someone who never loses hope especially if I lose a penalty, I will just keep going because I’m really mentally strong when it comes to penalty kicks.”
Paintsil and the LA Galaxy take on Real Salt Lake on May 11 next in the league.
